The USB removable memory card reader is a Rabbit-specific reader to help manage data to and from Rabbit-based devices that are equipped with an xD-Picture CardTM memory card socket and Dynamic C FAT software module. This enables fast retrieval of data from the card directly to a PC to be available for your application. The reader’s firmware is specifically developed to support only Rabbit-based systems using the Dynamic C FAT library, so it cannot be used as a reader for general purpose digital camera formatted files.
The RabbitCore RCM3365 and RCM3375 are equipped with the xD-Picture Card socket, and are designed for memory intensive embedded control and monitoring. With a Rabbit 3000 microprocessor running at 44.2MHz, 10/100 Base T Ethernet, on-board memory of 512K flash and 512K SRAM for code and data, as well as 16MB NAND flash (RCM3365), these RabbitCore modules are packed with features ideal for remote datalogging, Ethernet communications and control, and general purpose I/O intelligence into your embedded application.
The USB Memory Card Reader is used in the familiar way — when attached to a computer the USB Memory Card Reader identifies itself as a generic USB mass storage device. The reader then allows the computer to access the memory card. The computer treats the card as it does any mass storage device during file read, write, erase, and create operations. When a memory card is inserted that is not Rabbit formatted, the reader initializes that card to the Rabbit format and FAT12 if it is 32MB or smaller, or to FAT16 if it is larger than 32MB.
